3D Safety Services offers public and private group and individual training for perform tower rescue. We run public courses in Newcastle, NSW and private courses across NSW. A nationally recognised training program covering preparing to perform tower rescue, carrying out the tower rescue and completion of the tower rescue procedure.

This course involves advanced concepts on how to perform tower rescue through a combined delivery approach, using both theory and practical exercises.

This climbing and rescue training two-day course is ideally suited to workers required to work on structure such as telecommunication towers, poles, chairlifts or other tower-like structures.

Course Content

– AS 1891.4 – Industrial fall-arrest systems and devices (contextualised to tower environments)
– WHS legislative requirements (overview)
– Ladder fall-arrest systems
– Work positioning systems
– PPE selection, use and basic maintenance
– Fall arrest systems
– Using double hook lanyards
– Installing solid and reliable anchorage
– Practical rescue
– Assessment activities (e.g. rescues) contextualised to tower environments.

Course Elements

The essential outcomes for the course as prescribed in the unit of competency requirements are:

1. Respond to an emergency situation.
2. Perform CPR procedures.
3. Communication details of the incident.
4. Review the incident.
5. Prepare to perform tower rescue.
6. Carry out tower rescue.
7. Complete the tower rescue procedure.

Course Outcomes

Upon successful completion students will receive a Wallet Card and Statement of Attainment recognised under the Australian Qualifications Framework for the following units of competency:

HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
UETDRMP009 – Perform tower rescue

Course Duration

Course duration is 2 days (approx. 16 hours total) – 7:30am – 3:30pm.

Course Venue: Newcastle, NSW

Training and assessment is conducted at the 3D Safety Training Centre in Cameron Park or training can be conducted on-site at the premises of industry clients providing there have suitable infrastructure and training facilities.

Prerequisites

Students must provide evidence of completion of either of the following units of competency to enter into this course:

– UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations, codes of practices in the workplace

OR

– CPCCLDG3001 Licence to perform dogging & CPCCLRG3001 Licence to perform rigging basic level

Entry Requirements

Physical ability to successfully complete practical tasks and assessments.

Language, Literacy and Numeracy

Language, literacy and numeracy skills are required at a level to read, complete, interpret and communicate workplace documentation relevant to performing tower rescue.

Delivery Method

THEORY – including presentations, demonstrations and group discussions.
PRACTICAL – using equipment in simulated or real workplace environment.

Assessment Process

Students are assessed based on written assessment as well as observation of practical skills.
